Rich Willett

If you ever meet Rich Willett, you would think he is the happiest guy on earth. With his contagious smile and outgoing personality, you would never know Rich suffered from a childhood disease called polio. Rich describes in his book how this disease was not going to define him or his future.

Rich, a local Estero resident, always wanted to write about his journey living with polio. Many people who were infected with the polio virus didn’t become sick and had no symptoms. However, those who did get sick developed paralysis, which could sometimes be fatal.

In Rich’s case, he was diagnosed at 20 months old in 1950 and he left the hospital paralyzed in most of the major muscle groups in his body. Born to young parents totally unprepared for the challenges and heartache they faced; they endured and provided him with an example to follow which has carried him through a lifetime of challenges.

Rich will be speaking at a book signing on Tuesday, May 16th, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Environmental Learning Center, located inside of the Everglades Wonder Gardens, 27180 Old 41 Rd, in Downtown Bonita Springs. Books will be available for sale. Light refreshments will be provided.

Copies of the book can also be purchased on Amazon.com. Paperback and Kindle edition available.
