BONITA SPRINGS (Oct. 7, 2015) – Everglades Wonder Gardens has launched a membership program offering a variety of benefits to founding members who sign up in the first year. Membership dollars will support the new programs, exhibits, educational and volunteer opportunities, and visitor services being developed by Bonita Wonder Gardens, the non-profit entity that recently purchased and is revitalizing the 79-year-old attraction.
“Becoming a member is a wonderful way for Southwest Florida residents to support this historic and important community resource while making a potential charitable contribution,” said Trish Leonard, board president. All or part of the membership fees is tax deductible but members are advised to consult with their tax advisor.

All members enjoy unlimited free admission to the botanical jungle with bird and reptile exhibits, a 10 percent discount in the gift shop, advance notice and early registration for fee-based programs, and email updates of Wonder Gardens news and events.
Membership levels include Individual at $50, Senior Couple aged 65 and older at $75, and Family comprised of two adults and up to four children under age 18 for $100.
Friends of the Flamingo at $500 is for two adults and up to four children under age 18 and includes four guest passes, early admission on special exhibit opening days, a discount on fee-based workshops, programs and exhibitions, and recognition on the Wonder Gardens website and in its annual report.
Friends of Big Joe at $1,000 is for two adults and up to four children under age 18 and includes eight guest passes, early admission on special exhibit opening days, recognition on the Wonder Gardens website and in its annual report, and an invitation to the annual Director’s Tour.
The Wonder Gardens Founding Member level at $2,500 includes all of the Friends of Big Joe benefits as well as permanent recognition as a founding member.
Since the non-profit organization took over operations on July 1, the group is focusing on upgrades such as making the entrance and restrooms handicap accessible, renovated the Alligator Exhibit and begun work on a new water turtle exhibit, started a monthly Lunch and Learn Lecture series on the first Wednesday of the month from October through April, and begun other improvements and programs.
The organization is also preparing to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Everglades Wonder Gardens throughout 2016, starting with a dinner on February 17 at the Bonita Bay Club ballroom.
